Companionship, A Novel Concept

A slow-burn Marxolor fanfiction.

A passion project of mine. This fic, despite being nominally about the blossoming relationship between Marx and Magolor, is a character study of the way I interpret Magolor, and an exercise in worldbuilding in a low-stakes plot. As of writing this, I have posted 10 chapters, and I have an outline for the fic up through chapter 22, while still far from the planned end of the fic.

One could argue, this project is highly at risk of being made completely noncanon by future developments in the Kirby series, and it's almost distant enough that if I were to "file off the serial numbers" and put a little work into changing it, it'd be a good enough piece on its own. Which, I suppose, is sort of fair, but there's little bits of the Kirby lore that I think enhance it, and this project does fall in with the themes of Kirby at certain parts. I'm taking my passion for Kirby and warping this little fic into my own little thing.

I love writing little inconsequential everyday happenings. A boring life, while travelling the cosmos. Sometimes something happens and changes everything, but life does go on.

Read C,ANC here. I may host it on this website in the future...

Kirby's Unusual Fireworks Show

A Touhou-style bullet hell game, with a Kirby theme.

Truth be told, this is still 100% conceptual. I've done some experimenting with Danmakufu ph3, but game design is... not something I have any experience with. The project's also completely on hold for now, since I'm pretty busy with other things...

I've written up a messy script and ideas for spell cards.

I feel like Kirby and Touhou have a lot of vibe overlap, in certain ways, but I'm unsure how to define it. Kirby does have it's fair share of shmup sections, though, and the Border of Wave and Particle pattern does appear in the final fight in The Ultimate Choice in Star Allies. It feels like a fitting crossover.

Both series are also known for having great music, which... as someone who has no musical experience or intuition... I may need to hire someone to help me live up to this.

I don't want to reveal too many things, but I'll list some of the planned features:

Touhou Toki Pona Patch

Translating Touhou into Toki Pona.

I'm entering my translations into THPatch's media wiki, which automates patching the game. It's cool!

I'm currently working on Double Dealing Character, and I plan to do other games afterward (Impossible Spell Card is a definite yes).

Now, this project is certainly... difficult in some ways. For one, I'm not fluent in Japanese (I know enough to pick up a couple things that may not be clear/conveyed in English though). For two, I'm not extremely knowledgeable about the mythology and lore Touhou is based on. I'm trying to educate myself along the way, and with Toki Pona, I can kind of get away with not knowing every little nuance. Since Toki Pona loses a lot of nuance. Which is its own issue-- trying to make things sound as dramatic or as clear as they are in English or Japanese is rough, with limited space on the screen and limited time to read it. Using sitelen pona occasionally remedies it by making words like "o" and "sitelen" the same length... But I primarily use sitelen Lasina.

Also, graphic design is not my passion, so making the images for things like boss titles and such is hard, too.

It's a challenge, but it's fun.

This website

Self-explanatory, I think.

Fun fact: I have little to no prior HTML or CSS experience prior to making this!

Now, I don't think I'm exactly going to be a web designer or anything, but I'm proud of whatever this is.

I probably should have used a template style sheet or something like that, though. Why'd I go and build it from the ground up?!
